How do you stop a child from grinding their teeth all the time? Not just in their sleep (always)?

It's part of the growth process don't worry. Mouth guards are not indicated for children, Because they are in acgtive growth.

There teeth can be bonded so they wear down the composite rather than their teeth. I've only seen 3 -4 children out of 4000 or so in my career actually go throught the whole tooth. I suppose the nerve pain stops them in most cases.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

dre is correct. do not use a bite guard for a child. it will stop their growth of the arch that you put it on. let them grind away. it is only baby teeth and will not effect their permanent teeth whatsoever. Report It

Reply:How old is the child? Talk to your dentist! A mouth guard at night would be good, but as a 43-year-old who has ground her teeth away to nothing, I URGE you to do something quickly!
Reply:Buy a mouth guard.
Reply:ask your dentist, he can make a special mouthpiece that can also be worn during the day for children who grind there teeth.
Reply:Buy a bite plate. they are like a mouth gaurd slowly they will grow out of it
Reply:I can only help with teeth grinding at night. give your child a mouthguard at night. that should stop it. I dunno, maybe if your child wears it at night, the teeth grinding may stop druing the day also.
Reply:seems logical to talk to your dentist but can I suggest you talk to your doctor. When I was that age I grinded my teeth night and day too. It was because I'm an asthmatic but didn't really show it. Does she do this during the day after running around a lot? At night the cool air can aggravate asthma. You might be suprised
