How do you stop grinding your teeth while your asleep?

While some of the answers you have received gave you some good advice i.e....the mouth guard, that only deals with the symptom not the cause. The fact is, gritting and grinding your teeth is the symptom that exposes outwardly one or more emotional issues you are dealing with internally. While it happens to patients with all their natural teeth, I label it "EDS" for patients who wear dentures (Emotional Denture Stress)...Emotional Stress can manifest itself in a number of ways but tooth grinding and tooth gritting is a classic symptom. There are six basic areas from which Stress comes, Marriage, Money, Employment, Sex, Health and Self Esteem...dealing with issues that any of those areas cause can trigger the gritting and grinding. However the issue may not be your personal one but instead that of a close relative, mate or friend, i.e.....you may have a loved one suffering from a terminal disease and your so emotional affected you begin to grit and grind...that is the "Health" area I labeled as one of the six areas. Keep this in mind, Stress is in reality no difference than an Appendix, when either becomes infected it has to be dealt with and treated. Not to is to court emotional disaster. I would suggest that you seek out a professional counselor and find out where your Stress is coming from, if you don't already know. In either case counseling is where you will find the tools to deal with it. I wish you well and take care.

buy a shield, you can get them from chemists
Reply:yes shields for your mouth from big pharmacies
Reply:take them out and put them in a glass ...LOL
Reply:You can buy a mouth guard from the Dentist that will stop the damage to your teeth while sleeping.
Reply:Well first of all why are you grinding your teeth? Are you having bad dreams? I mean your teeth are always going to grind together, actually its kind of painful now that you think about it. But anyways yes I would go to a pharmacy and ask for teeth protectors.
Reply:Visit your dentist. A nightguard (sometimes called "night splint") may be helpful, but can be expensive. A less expensive option is a boil-and-bite athletic mouthguard that you can get from a sporting goods store. You boil it at home and fit it to your teeth. They are soft and you may chew through it over a bit of time, but it is a good tool to determine if a more permanent guard from your dentist would help you.
Reply:i dnt know but ive got the same problem and my jaw really hurts!!!
Reply:my boyfriend does the same ant it is annoying... however i asked my dentist what could i do to make him stop and he recommended a night guard shield called sleep right... you should try it
Reply:get a night guard, and if you can't afford one, train yourself to put your tongue in between, so you don't grind. (it doesnt hurt, thats why you have pain receptors). Also, reduce your stress. take a hot steamy bath, or shower before going to bed, where you can relax your mind and body.
Reply:brush your teeth with superglue before you go bed
Reply:visit dentist
