I know I'm doing it while I sleep, but for some reason I can't stop my-self from doing it.
How can I prevent teeth grinding?
you need to get your self treated by an psychiatrist, its due to some tension. You can get a night guard to protect your teeth. Take some muscular relaxant to relax your jaw muscles.
Reply:Go to the store and buy these teeth guards especially for that. If prevents the headaches and damage to your mouth. I forgot the brand but I hear they work.
Reply:you need to get a guard that you can wear at night.
Reply:The rubber teeth guards work well. You mold them to your teeth like a sports mouthguard, but they are specially designed for teeth grinding. There are a few brands out there, I got one at Target. The problem is this particular Target only carried one size - medium. They also make small and large. But they claim medium will fit the vast majority of people. In my case it was too small, so I gave it to my gf. I found a different brand at a drug store and it works great for me.
I suspect that most people stop grinding their teeth after wearing the mouth guard for a while (few months or few weeks) and probably won't need it anymore. It is probably stress induced or if you have any new dental work and your bite is not aligned correctly, often times you will naturally want to grind your teeth - whether in your sleep or awake.
Try to de-stress in any way possible and this may also help with your teeth grinding. Good luck
