I grind my teeth a lot and I have a mouthguard that a dentist gave me several years ago and told me to wear at night only. Now, I even grind my teeth during the day, should I wear the guard during the day as well?
What causes grinding of the teeth?
Yeah, go see a dentist. Honestly, if it is anxiety... a dentist probably could prescribe meds to see if it helps...rather than seeing your MD unless you are pretty certain it is something else. DDS have to prescribe anxiety meds bc of all the people who experience anxiety when going to the dentist. I would see your MD too if you have been taking drugs (particularly stimulants) or think you may have sleep apnea. These are less common reasons why people grind. If you lift weights, that can even cause you to grind. Good luck and hope you get the solution you are looking for.
PS Obviously if you are a day grinder.. you may be able to toss out a sleeping condition alone .. but you knew that.
Reply:Anxiety and Stress.
Reply:I grind my teeth due to stress and frustration. I do not wear a mouth guard during the day since the grinding tends to be worse at night.
Reply:You need to see your doc and dentist to find out what is causing you to grind your teeth during the day, Sounds like it might be anxiety but see the doc first and then the dentist.
Reply:YOu should get a new one!! I think they sell them in the store now!! You shouldn't grind because you'll have sores and problems!!
Reply:You should consider the fact that you may have parasites, not a pleasant thought I know, but it does cause grinding of the teeth
Reply:yes to protect your teeth.
go back to the doctor. have your doctor fit you a soft night guard and a hard bruxism splint to correct your grinding or bruxism.
