Without using a night gaurd, is there any way to cure "grinding teeth during the night" (nocturnal bruxism)?

yep, i already know that night gaurds for the teeth help you somewhat with preventing damage to the teeth and the gums, but is there any other way to cure bruxism (getting rid of it completely, not just adjusting to the symptoms)?

try having a cup of Kava Kava tea or tablets before retiring.

it relaxes muscles and removes tension.
Reply:I saw a physical therapist about my chronic jaw pain, and I think that bruxism is hard to cure. I know that I am more likely to grind my teeth if I am stressed, so perhaps some relaxation exercises before bed. Also, he taught me massages to do on my face and in my mouth to relax the muscles. This site seems to describe them well: http://www.massagebyheather.com/self-mas...
Reply:Take them out--like I do. lol

Sorry, Just had to say that. I used to have the same problem--but not anymore. Don't have an answer for you.
Reply:One way of stopping the damage and severity of grinding and clenching is through the making of a repositioning splint. A repositioning splint looks like the traditional night guard but has certain functions built into it. This device not only protects your teeth when you do grind but in addition, it reduces your urge to grind.

Damaged teeth can be repaired by replacing the worn natural crown of the tooth with an artificial crown. Materials used to make crowns vary; some are less prone to breaking than others, and can last longer. Porcelain fused to metal crowns may be used in the anterior (front) of the mouth, and in the posterior (back) gold is the preferred material. All porcelain crowns are now becoming more and more common and work well for both anterior and posterior restorations. To protect the new crowns, and dental implants an occlusional guard may be fabricated to wear at night.
Reply:Biofeedback.
