Is it ok for a 9 month old baby to be grinding her teeth together?

Whenever she doesn't have her pacifier in her mouth, she's grinding her teeth together, and it drives me crazy. I don't want her to have a pacifier in her mouth all day either, but is this normal?

Is it ok for a 9 month old baby to be grinding her teeth together?
Babies and even toddlers around that age generally are teething and will grind their teeth on anything. Though it seems painful there's nothing odd about it. They are teething and since they are their baby teeth then you don't have to worry about permanent damage although a pacifier in their mouth can cause their teeth to come in odd ways and possibly cause an overbite.
Reply:It is ok, it means they are teething some more, but u might want to let her have the passifier, but not for too long, or her teeth will grow in crooked and she will need braces later on.
Reply:wow your baby is just like me! i grind my teeth almost everyday! but it is so normal 4 me dude!
Reply:I say the pacifier is better than the teeth grinding. And I'm sure it's normal, baby is just checking out her new pearly whites.
Reply:Yep, my little one did that too. It's a phase and it'll pass. I know it's annoying too! The teeth are new to her and she's just wondering and exploring to see what these things can do! I would try and distract her when she does this. She's still quite young and you can still give her pacifier as much as needed. It will not affect her teeth just yet!

Best of luck and I hope this passes quickly!
Reply:She's just "cutting" more teeth--guess u just have to tolerate it and maybe ask her dr. if something can be prescribed to alleviate the pain that comes with new teeth coming in. Won't be long she'll be biting ya, LOL
Reply:yea
Reply:It's normal and it will go away. It's just something new to them that they can do.
Reply:it's okay , my daughter did that too but know that she is 3 she only does it at night. i wouldn't be too worried.
Reply:My daughter is 1, and when she was around 8-9 months she ground her teeth for what seemed like ALL DAY. She wasn't getting a tooth through either, but all of a sudden she stopped doing it. It must have been sudden because we didn't even notice she'd stopped!

The pacifier made NO difference whatsoever....

She has the pacifier now but the grinding has stopped... Babies eh?
