Could grinding teeth at night cause sores on the tongue?

It might possibly. I used to grind my teeth and now i have sensitive teeth. My brother used to and got this weird sore throat thing going on. You should consider teeth trays they prevent you from grinding during day but i dont know about night.

Could grinding teeth at night cause sores on the tongue?
Yes, grinding could create tenderness and even sore spots on a persons tongue. The more major issue however is, why you are grinding your teeth in the first place. Gritting and grinding is an outward symptom that indicates there are emotional issues on the inside. If you have a sun burn, thats an outward sign you was out in the sun, not something you eaisly hide and so it is wtih gritting and grinding of teeth, It's an emotional stress issue. Some people not only grit and grind, they clinch and weather you do one or all of those, your reacting to emotional stress.

We know that emotional stress comes from one or a combination of six areas. They are as follows: Money, Marriage, Employment, Sex, Health and Self Esteem. The reality is that while you are reacting to a stress issue, the core problem may not in fact be your "personal" issue, i.e., You might have a close family member or friend who has a serious terminal disease, and your so close to this person you stress out to the point you grit, grind and clinch, even when your not around the person. Regardless of which area is causing your stress reaction it doesn't go away until you deal with the issue. If that means the passing of your relative or friend, you end up resolving your stress during the grieving period and at a point the stress goes away.

However, other stress causing areas don't end with a funeral. They may require a physical change in the circumstances such as moving and living in a different location, getting a different job etc. Most of the time the first step is to get with a professional counselor and learn why your stressing (gritting and grinding). Once that has been "firmly" established ,continued counseling helps you realign your position with regard to the area that stressed you. You learn what you need to do to over come being controlled by the area. You make the required changes, the gritting and grinding stops and your on your way to a happy stress free life. Think of this, a stress issue is basically like having a diseased appendix, you diagnose the problem, make a firm decision as to what needs to be done about it, you do it and you regain your health...and that includes dental health...Good luck and I wish you well.
