How do I get my toddler to quit grinding her teeth in her sleep??

My 3 year old grinds her teeth so badly! It's loud enough, at times, where you can hear it in the next room. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion to how I can get her to stop doing this??

Your help is much appreciated, thank you.

How do I get my toddler to quit grinding her teeth in her sleep??
I had the same problem with my son around that age. He ended up have enlarged adenoids (affects breathing) that were removed when he was eight. No more grinding.
Reply:Gosh, I totally spaced on that one as well. My daughter at age 7 had her adenoids (and tonsils) removed. Grinding her teeth was one of the symptoms. I guess that is what old age does to you, or it may just be the heat, lol. Good answer collynn. Report It

Reply:If it helps you to know, I am 38 and still do it! Maybe, you should ask a pediatrician!
Reply:hard to say

my mom said i did this when i was a kid, but i had no idea

it might be just a phase

because apparently after awhile i got over it and stopped
Reply:give her a pacifier or take her to a doctor, and I rather take her to the doc.
Reply:talk to her doctor, but maybe she needs a mouthguard..
Reply:Try to distract her and push her gently while sleeping.
Reply:Give her like a mouth peice that keeps her jaw open, but relaxed until this phase is over.
Reply:I'm 19 yrs old and also grind my teeth so i was given a clear then plastic retainer to protect my teeth. The dentist said many ppl do it when they are stressed about something or tensions and worries exist however i don't feel any of these things so i guess this doesn't apply to all cases. But perhaps you can get a retainder for her particularly once adult teeth come through.
Reply:sounds like she might need a bite guard. I use to do that in my sleep but I stopped. Do it soon before she gets TMJ
Reply:I did that as a kid and actually wore a couple of me teeth down. When I was a little older, my dentist made a "plate" (I can't remember the technical name) that I wore in my mouth at night. It didn't elleviate the grinding, but it protected my teeth. I would talk to your dentist, but I think she may be too little for something like that.
Reply:I'm 28 and grind my teeth. It's not something that you can just turn on and off. I tend to do it more around the times when I'm stressed out. If you're worried about your daughter damaging her teeth, you can either buy a mouth guard at the store or have her fitted for one at her dentist.
Reply:Have her fitted for a night gaurd. You can't stop the grinding, but you can protect her teeth.
Reply:I would suggest that you take her to a dentsist and ask them about a reainer that she can wear at night. This should stop her grinding her teeth and protect her gums. The retainer is made to fit her mouth using a speciale mould and paste. I hope this works for you.
Reply:As already suggested, take her to the Dentist. The problem could cause other things, like TMJ.
Reply:This was many yrs. ago..my son is now 25 but he used to grind his teeth too...no dentist or any other doctor, said they could do anything...but these days, a dentist surely would give a solution, hopefully...I would think like some of your other A's, would be to get her a retainer...or similar...good luck! :p

~peace~
Reply:I just always woke my babies up and gave them something to drink. Then told them to stop....That happened with both mine and finally they grew out of it. Unless they are stressed and they still do it. Just wake them up or if it gets worse take them to the dentist and have a mouth piece fitted for them
Reply:They're still baby teeth. Perhaps your Dentist can tell you if you need to be concerned. My question is more "why" she does it as there are many possible reasons...
Reply:you can try putting this question in the right category.....
Reply:y is this in pollls and surveys?
