How do you stop a 4 year old boy from grinding teeth in the middle of the night?
i dont think you can. get him a mouth guard
Reply:Take him to the dentist, tell the dentist that he grinds his teeth, if the dentist considers it a problem the dentist will fit him for a guard. Keep in mind that these things usually taste HORRIBLE and that he may not want to wear it.
Reply:Go see a dentist and have him fitted for a mouth guard to wear at night. There are ones that you can buy at the store, but i doubt you will be able to find one small enough to do its job.
Reply:I work at a dentist, all children grind their teeth when they are that age. They do not make mouth guards for chldren that age. He will grow out of it in time. (Most adults grind their teeth at night due to stress, but their have not been studies on children).
Reply:They sell mouthguards at Walgreens that are meant for people that grind their teeth at night.
Reply:yup..what other people jhere have said. Take him to a dentist.
Reply:They make a little plastic teeth guard device like footballers wear. Kid wears it to bed at night and it protects the teeth from excessive wear. It took a night or two to get usedto it, but it wasn't a big deal after that. My daughter ground her teeth for a year or so then grew out of it.
Reply:I work at an orthodontist office and we see this all the time I know it sounds bad but they are just his baby teeth he is going to lose them any way. They do not make mouth guards for kids that young and he probably wouldn't wear it any way. It will pass
Reply:My son is 5 years old and he constantly grinding his teeth while he is sleeping. I don't know why, but I thought it was weird!
Reply:My daughter, who is 5, occasional grinds her teeth. The dentist told me its because her new teeth are little by little getting ready to come out. However, I would take your son to the dentist to have his teeth checked. Most of the time our little ones have cavities and that could be associated with the grinding also. My daughter who eats pretty health and rarely has candy had 2 cavities. Good Luck!
