My cat is grinding his teeth. What could cause this?

I have had his teeth cleaned and several checkups at the vet. No other health problems..no diabetes etc. Tried Science Diet sensitive stomach food and oral care. he eats R/D Science diet now. I have also tried oral rinses and brushing his teeth. Anything else that may cause this?

Teeth grinding in cats is not uncommon. Some grind their teeth in the same action as they would to get their mother's milk..so sometimes the action..like kneeding is still repeated even though they have grown to adulthood.





Stress or even hairballs can also cause teeth grinding. Have her checked (they will probably do Xrays) for hairballs that may be bothering her. Cats find dim places with lots of hidding spots a comfortable environment. So if she is always out in the open, like in the living room or kitchen..or even big rooms she will be more stressed. Give her some more hidding spots around the house and you will find her being more at ease.





Keep up the dental care, as even if it is not the problem...it's very good for their health.

Reply:He wants to chew on something. Give him more meat instead of processed food. Some cats like carrot strips or even small pieces of apple, try them. Get him a meat bone to gnaw on, a real one and not some created thing. Best wishes
Reply:I give mine raw chicken neck and raw chicken wings..


Now she is not grinding the teeth..


What ever you are doing just keep it up..


Maybe give her more cuddle and love her more..


She should be ok..

Reply:I don't know but tooth grinding can be a sign of stomach pain-maybe he has a hairball or a stomach ulcer
