3 year old daughter grinding her teeth during sleep?

My daughter hasn%26#039;t been sleeping well lately, so I%26#039;ve been lying next to her and sneaking out when I could. I have noticed that once she%26#039;s in a deep sleep, she starts grinding her teeth. I am talking LOUDLY! It sounds like fingernails on a chalk board!

Has anyone else had a toddler do this? If I take her to a doctor or a pediatric dentist and they give her a mouthguard... I can see that flying across the other side of the room as soon as we try to put it in!

Any suggestions, please?

Bruxism. That is the official name for teeth grinding. My son is 5 and he has the same problem. Makes your skin crawl, huh? We took him to the pediatric dentist and they suggested the mouth guard. I have to admit, it was difficult getting him to wear it at first.
Reply:Im in the same situation except my daughter has been doing that since she was 9 months old and she is now 15 months. The noise drives me nuts and all the doctor told me to do because she is so young and could gag on a mouthguard is to use a pacifier for another year or so to prevent it.

If you find anything that works please let me know as well.
Reply:My son is 6 and started doing it about 12 months ago. I have seen a doctor about it, but apart from a mouthguard there really isn%26#039;t anything you can do. Sorry....I know how bad it can be. I can hear it from the next room
Reply:My son%26#039;s dentist wouldn%26#039;t give us a mouth guard. He says that it won%26#039;t be harmful yet because the baby teeth will fall out anyway. It is very irritating to the ears though. You may want to purchase a child size night guard if you can find one at a drug store I haven%26#039;t been able to do so myself.
Reply:Nightmares is there stress on him or has she been having a bad time .
Reply:We tried everything and nothing worked. Mine at two wouldn%26#039;t use a mouth guard. Now he is also three and grinds once in a while. The doc told me it was from pint up energy and I didn%26#039;t believe him but it was true. We ran around with no t.v for a few hours every night and did our bed time routine and dinner and all with out t.v. He got used to it. after three times of that he stopped grinding. He still does it once in a while but not anything like before. We can still watch our shows like The Office and Heroes and my son won%26#039;t watch, we also will play a game like elefun while me and my husband watch our show and he is still actively entertained, he has learned to play and run around and we do with him but he gets no shows or movies after 5. also no sugar, fruit, carbs after 5, that was a big factor too. I thought all this to be extreme and a life style change but it really wasn%26#039;t.
Reply:Got to watch out for that it can cause jaw pain and later causes in life... she should go to a Dentist three is a good age to go.
Reply:I do that and 2 of my boys do that and at times very loud. If she dont want to use the mouth guard, its no big deal cause she is going to loose them teeth any way and just wait till she becomes 5 to give it to her when she sleeps if she is still doing it.
Reply:teeth grinding means your babby has worms in the stomach. There are few medicienes which comes to kill these worms %26amp; you have to give this medicienes after every 6 months.

It happend with my son also who is 3 years old. now after having the mediciens, no problem of teeth grinding.
Reply:my daughter before she died she would grin her teeth and we got that checked and the doctor gave us a mouth gard
