my boyfriend grinds his teeth at night and i cant sleep because of it. i tell him to open his jaw so he doesnt do it, but he eventually goes back to doing it. he cant go to the dentist because he doesnt ever have time, he works while they are open. is there anything i can do to make this stop?
GRINDING teeth.... cant sleep...HELP???
go to walmart or riteaid or where ever you can, they make guards that you can buy just for that! no dentist needed. its called tmj. i have it too. mine flares up when im stressed. maybe if you think he is stressed out, go for a little getaway or plan something relaxing
Reply:This happened to my dad and he went to the doctor and got a special mouth guard fitted to wear at night. If you can%26#039;t visit a doctor right away, I%26#039;m sure you could just buy a mouth guard at a sports stor or something.
Reply:There are dental appliances for sale at the drugstore that are meant to help with teeth grinding. They%26#039;re not quite as good as the ones made by the dentist. but they will help absorb some of the tension. Also, try one of those back massagers (No Kidding!) along the side of the face to take some of the tension out of the jaw, or vocal exercises used by singers -- say 10 minutes of singing L+ vowel sounds before he goes to bed. It%26#039;s really a stress thing, so he should try to deal with whatever is making him tense. This is no joke; you can break and lose teeth from this if left untreated.
Reply:buy a mouth guard for him
Reply:girding your teethis called bruxing and its obviously very bad. Now im no dentist, im 13, but if you want my advice tell him to wear a mouth gaurd to bed
