How Do I stop my 5 year old brother from grinding his teeth?

My five year old brother has been grinding his teeth in his sleep. At first, he only did it when he was mad, but then it became a everyday habit. Now, he dosen%26#039;t do it during the day, but at night. is there anything I can do to stop it?

You can try the mouth guard but most dentists will tell you if he still has his baby teeth, just let him grind. My son has this problem and our dentist told us his baby teeth can be ground down to his gums before he%26#039;ll ever hit a nerve or anything.
Reply:He needs a mouth gard. the dentist can give you one. Its good that you catch and tackle this now.
Reply:there really isnt anything that can stop him. buy one of those football mouth gards for his size to help save his teeth and have him wear it in his sleep and it will help muffle the sound as well.
Reply:Yes, go get him a nighguard or doctors call it a night splint. Make sure youre on top of this, because it can lead to fractures in the teeth or even chipping. My husband and mother have them. There are cheap ones at sports stores (they look like mouth guards when you%26#039;re playing sports) or if thats too big, then a doctor can make one that%26#039;s a custom fit.
Reply:When children grind their teeth, its usually a sign that they have intestinal worms. You have to tell your parents or guardian.Worm medicine are usually sold over the counter without a prescription. For safety measures they can probably take him to the doctor and get him checked out.
Reply:What you can do is inform your parents or guardian. It is not up to you as his sister to fix things like this, it is their job as parents. That being said however, one thing you could suggest to them is not to let him have drinks containing caffeine, or a lot of sugar late in the day. I used to grind mine at night w/o even knowing it, until my dentist said to cut out drinking coffee in the afternoon. That cured it.
