Baby grinding her teeth?

I have an 11 month old who keeps grinding her top and bottom teeth together. I cant STAND that noise that it makes and I know she shouldn%26#039;t do it, so i%26#039;ve been giving her a pacifier so that she doesnt do it, but I was wondering if there are any other ways I can get her to stop doing this?

My son is doing this as well, and he enjoys it! He only seems to do it when he is really concentrating hard, or when he isn%26#039;t chewing on something, so when I notice it I try giving him something to chew on. I%26#039;ve been told that for the most part this is normal. They are experimenting with what they can do, and hopefully will stop when they realize that it isn%26#039;t so cool. I wish the mouth guard idea would work, but since they don%26#039;t seem to do it while sleeping, but consciously, I%26#039;m not sure how well that would turn out.
Reply:Maybe give her something soft to chew on , like a teething ring
Reply:AHHH! My 7.5 month old is doing this too, it drives me nuts! Like chewing ice or scratching a chalk board. I try to calmly tell her %26#039;no%26#039; or %26#039;stop%26#039; (which she does not understand at this point) and then I try to distract her with a toy. Pretty much anything she can get her hands on goes straight to her mouth so that%26#039;s a good way for us to get her to stop, at least for that moment :)
Reply:Eeew, I sure hope there is. My teeth are almost completely destroyed from grinding them. I am in the looong process of getting implants. Grinding is really horrible; it wears the teeth right down to the dentin and then decay sets in. Contact a dentist; they might be able to recommend a pediatric mouth guard to wear to bed. It%26#039;ll make baby uncomfortable, but it%26#039;s far better than getting extractions at age 2.
