im not sure if i have tmj or not but i have the symptoms like headaches and earaches- which dont happen often but like once or twice a day and may last for 20-30 minutes. about the grinding part, i notice that sometimes at night my teeth would click- like it would do this thing real quick where you would bite something but nothing is in your mouth- or like hitting your bottom teeth and upper teeth together for a split second. something like that. now, would this be grinding your teeth? or would grinding your teeth mean having all your teeth together and moving them side to side? btw, how did your tmj start? thanks in advance...
Grinding your teeth and tmj?
Hi.Grinding one%26#039;s teeth is known as Bruxism and not Tmj.The full form of Tmj is Temporo Mandibular joint, the joint which everyone has.It%26#039;s not a condition
Whereas Bruxism is.
Some people have it because of non-allignment of teeth. Some people do it because of excess tension.
To know whether you have it,ask your partner to watch you once you have fallen asleep to note if you tighten your mouth during sleeping hours.Or make any movements.
TO fix it you will have to visit your dentist who will give you a mouth guard to wear when you go to sleep so that you don%26#039;t unnecessarily erode your tooth enamel.
Reply:First call around and find a dentist that does %26quot;Occlusal (bite) adjustment%26#039;s%26quot;. Go in for an assessment, to make sure this is really the problem. Your bite may be off and if so it%26#039;s pretty easy to adjust so that you stop grinding.or you may need some type of appliance to wear which will help with this and relieve the pressure.
Reply:IF YOU ARE HAVING PAIN SYMPTOMS YOU WILL BE NEFRIT FROM THIS BRUXISM APPLIANCE THE DENTIST WILL MAKE FOR YOU.
Reply:I grit my teeth in my sleep %26amp; also i get like a clickin, I seem 2grit them over tension or if im angry etc! I dont do this all the time but just go ur dentist %26amp; he%26#039;ll tell you what to do %26amp; what the best option is
