One year old grinding his teeth, any ideas?

my 15 month old has two teeth on the bottom and just got his first top tooth. all three are in the front. he is always grinding the little nub of the new top tooth on the bottom ones. It sounds terrible!! His older sister never did this so it has caught me off gaurd. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone else had a baby do this and if so how long did it last?

One year old grinding his teeth, any ideas?
Yes, my son did this as well. It didn%26#039;t last past a month or so. I read an article about it and it basically said it was normal and not to worry. Just check his teeth and gums regularly to make sure there is no visible damage. If there is anything concerning, don%26#039;t hesitate to take him to a children%26#039;s dentist for advice. I know how concerning it can be though and I just relaxed and it passed as promised.
Reply:My son did that for awhile. I keep forgetting to ask the dentist about it but you might give a pediatric dentist a call. When my son did it I would gently tap his lips and say %26quot;stop%26quot; The noise drove me nuts! He only did that for a couple months I think he was just getting used to his teeth.
Reply:My son did that for a while, too. I asked his nurse and she said lots of babies do that...they%26#039;re just getting used to these new things in their mouths and figuring out what they can do with them. In our case, it lasted maybe a month or two. About the only thing I ever figured out to do was to give him a pacifier or teething toy.
Reply:it is normal and in fact, the grinding helps their mouths feel better. Kind of like when your feet hurt and you rub them. He will stop doing it once the pain of teething gets easier to deal with and once he is use to having teeth. It really does bother the parents more than the kids!!!
