TEETH GRINDING!!! i have a serious problem with this?

and clenching my teeth as well..... mostly at night.... last night i barely slept because of the pain in my jaw... can%26#039;t keep taking painkillers every night...... haven%26#039;t had much success with splints/gumshields in the past.....its getting to the point where i can barely open my mouth to yawn .... can anyone reccomend anything at all to help with this before i wake up some day with no teeth left.... thanx

I was a grinder during elementary and high school. I had lots of gum recession and had to have a skin graft done in my mouth. They took tissue from the roof of my mouth and put it where my gums are and that worked fine. However, to prevent having to do this, ask your dentist for a night guard - they will take an impression of your teeth and make you a guard to wear at night. This should protect your teeth. Just remember - DON%26#039;T FORGET TO WEAR IT AT NIGHT! This is a problem I had. Hope this helps!

Go to your dentist to see what you can do... You may have a problem, because your teeth are too large and are uncomfortable...


If all else fails, try the will power. Say %26#039;%26#039; No more teeth grinding%26#039;%26#039; and stick to it.

Reply:Definitely need to see the Dentist. Have you had a mouth peice made specifically for you through your dentist? That%26#039;s what you need. You may also need a procedure done called an Arthrocentesis. This is a procedure where they inject saline straight into your jaw bone area to flush it out then they inject steroids which will take away the inflammation and get rid of the pain your having and you will be able to open your mouth again. They do put you to sleep first. I had it done and it was a miracle You have what is called TMJ in case no one has told you.
Reply:Teeth grinding can be cured using a night guard. Ask a local dentist. In India it costs about 2000 rs. a pair. the problem is fully curable.
