my 10 month old is has been grinding her teeth really bad, what causes her to do this? and how can I get her to stop? im afraid she%26#039;ll ruin her teeth.
Baby grinding her teeth?
I dont know how far this is true. But in India it is believed that children grind the teeth when something is physically or emotionally uncomfortable. May be like a bad dream or some pain in the tummy or something like that. This could be just a tale, but it is believed very much among South Indians that tooth biting may be a sign of some discomfort. You can apply some gum gel to ease the pain if your child is teething or can give cold teethers to soothe the child%26#039;s gum. Try to divert the child%26#039;s attention and see if you are uncomfortable with that. The child usually stops grinding the teeth when they are diverted. May be try putting them in different position when sleeping or massage.
Reply:There%26#039;s nothing you can to make her stop, maybe her teeth are hurting her? Try putting some orajel on her gums and see if that helps. Also, contrary to public opinion, grinding your teeth does not cause teeth to be ruined. Good luck.
Reply:When I was younger, my teeth were grinding too. I ad too many teeth that grew in. Also, some other people, they have smaller jaws, %26amp; need to have some teeth pulled or the teeth could grow to dislocate the jaw. Maybe take her to a dr to see if they can figure it out!
Reply:that is normal,my cusion use to do that but if it gets real bad u need to go see a doctor about.
Reply:take her to the dentist they can make her a special plate (i think it%26#039;s foam)
Reply:I cant believe some of these answers,IT IS NORMAL for her to do this and she will do it all the more if you draw attention to it,distract her and gice her something to gnaw on she is teething bless her,and she has teeth, lol
Reply:if it keeps going on or gets really bad you might want to take her to a dentist. My baby sister did this badly and the doctor said it was normal. Now she has an arch in her two front teeth where she grinded it down cuasing ( %26lt;-- that type of shape but horisontally on her front teeth
Reply:it is normal. and don%26#039;t draw attention to it, learned that the hard way. my son sometimes does it during the day and i told him once to stop that but he just did it more. if she continues to do this in to her elemetary school years and it bothers you you might try what my aunt did. my cousins doctor suggested it to my aunt, for an older child of course use a tooth guard like boxers and football players use.
Reply:both of my kids did that and it drove me up the wall. unfortunately there is nothing you can do. she will grow out of this in a few months though.
